IPL chairman Brijesh Patel said on Thursday that the governing council of this T20 league (IPL 2021) has decided that eight franchises will be allowed to hand over the names of players to be retained by January 21. Patel and members of the IPL Governing Council met online this week in which the plans and preparations for the next IPL were discussed in detail.
Former India Test batsman Patel told PTI that the auction date has not been decided yet. He said, “Players can be retained by January 21 and the trading window for franchisees will be closed on February 4.” The players’ auction is expected to be held in the second or third week of February.

Patel and members of the IPL Governing Council met online this week to discuss the plans and preparations for the next IPL in detail. Patel said that the auction date has not been decided yet. “Players will be able to retain till January 21. The trading window for the franchisees will be closed on February 4,” he said.
Budget for auction of players will not increase
Eight IPL teams will have 85 crore to buy players and Patel said that. The budget amount for the 2021 auction will not be increased.
Chennai Super Kings had just Rs 15 lakh left after the last auction. And are expected to increase their budget by releasing at least two expensive players in the form of Kedar Jadhav and Piyush Chawla.

Mumbai Indians probably need to retain all their big players because their combination is good. The team can however release some players to increase their budget of one crore 95 lakh rupees.
Rajasthan Royals will have the highest amount of Rs 14 crore 75 lakh, while the Sunrisers Hyderabad team will enter the auction with an amount of Rs 10 crore 10 lakh.
Delhi Capitals will have nine crore. Kolkata Knight Riders will have eight crore 50 lakh. While Royal Challengers Bangalore will have an amount of six crore 40 lakh.

The BCCI source said. ‘BCCI waited a week to see how covid-19 is located in India and only after that the program will be finalized. Everyone wants that it should be held in India, but we will have to wait some more time before deciding.
