SYDENY : Ashes 2021 -22, AUS vs ENG, 2nd Test: Australian fast bowler Jhye Richardson is set to play the second Ashes Test in Adelaide on Sunday after fast bowler Josh Hazlewood returned sydney.
Hazlewood did not bowl in the afternoon session on the third day of the first Test and was sent for a scan on Friday night. Australia’s Test captain Pat Cummins said the team management will continue to monitor Hazlewood’s fitness and no decision will be taken in haste.
Ahead of the first day-night Test of the Ashes 2021-22 in Adelaide, Australia has suffered a major setback. Josh Hazlewood has been ruled out due to a side strain before the second Test match of the Ashes Series 2021-22. Hazlewood bowled only 14 overs in England’s second innings.
Australian captain Pat Cummins has admitted that his fellow bowlers were in trouble during this period. Hazlewood suffered an injury while playing the first Test. In this test match, Australia registered a 9-wicket win over England at the Gabba.
JHYE RICHARDSON WILL REPLACE JOSH HAZLEWOOD
According to reports, Josh Hazlewood was seen in casuals while flying from Brisbane to Sydney without any of his companions. Jhye Richardson and Michael Nasser, who were in the Australia A team, which played a warm-up match against England Lions last week, are in the Australia team as cover in fast bowling. Richardson is set to play again after his first series against Sri Lanka in Hazlewood’s absence in early 2019.
Cricket.com.au was quoted as saying by Australia captain Pat Cummins, “Josh Hazlewood was in a bit of pain. It was good that he was able to come out and bowl really well, but he is a bit nervous so we don’t want to trouble him. His injury is being monitored. He is troubled by the pain in his back.”
He added, “It is not very serious, but I did not want it to turn into a major injury. We don’t want to put him in danger for the whole series, so we will take our time. No plans yet.”
Let us tell you that in the first match of the Ashes series played in Brisbane, Josh Hazlewood took two wickets in the first innings while bowling brilliantly. He took both these wickets for 42 runs. After this he took a wicket in the second innings. In this way, he took a total of three wickets in the first Test.
The rest of Australia’s team will leave for Adelaide on Monday. The second Test will start from Thursday. Australia will miss Hazlewood, who has so far taken 32 wickets in seven day-night Tests. More wickets than him are in the name of only Starc in the day-night Test.
