Young took advantage of the lifeline and scored a brilliant half-century. He got out after scoring 54 runs. He hit 5 fours in 114 balls in his half-century innings. This is the fifth half-century of Young’s Test career. Young shared a century partnership for the first wicket with captain Tom Latham. Both added 148 runs for the first wicket.
Latham’s unbeaten century and his unbroken second-wicket double century partnership with Devon Conway made New Zealand 349 for 1 on day one on Sunday. After losing the toss, Latham (186 not out) at Hagley Oval along with Will Young (54) put on 148 runs for the first wicket and got the hosts off to a great start. He added an unbeaten 201 for the second wicket with Conway (99 not out) as New Zealand cemented their position on the very first day of the match.
Latham has so far hit 28 fours in his 278-ball knock. While Conway’s 148-ball knock included 10 fours and a six. Bangladesh thrilled the world cricket with an eight-wicket win in the first Test as the No. 9 team defeated the No. 2 team on its soil.
