IPL 2022: Punjab Kings coach-captain pair to be reunited in Lucknow franchise?

Andy Flower has resigned as the assistant coach of Punjab Kings. He can  made the coach of the new IPL franchise Lucknow. KL Rahul, who was the captain of Punjab in the last two seasons, can also join the Lucknow franchise. In such a situation, the coach-captain pair can once again join.

2 new teams are going to be added in the next season of IPL (IPL-2022). The world’s richest cricket league, which will make the total 10 teams in the league. One team will be Lucknow and the other Ahmedabad. For the Lucknow franchise, it is believed that former Zimbabwe captain Andy Flower is at the forefront of the race to become its head coach. Flower has resigned as the assistant coach of Punjab Kings.

KL RAHUL TO JOIN LUCKNOW AND CAN BE CAPTAIN OF TEAM

KL Rahul, who was the captain of Punjab in the last two seasons, is likely to join the Lucknow team. When asked about this, a team official said, ‘We are hearing many names. Today someone wrote that Gary Kirsten is going to be the coach. We are in talks with some people but we cannot confirm till the agreement is done.

Flower was associated with the Punjab team before the 2020 IPL and worked with head coach Anil Kumble in the last two seasons. Apart from Flower and Kirsten. The names of former New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori and former India fast bowler Ashish Nehra are also being heard for the Lucknow team. According to some media reports, Lucknow franchise has kept two candidates in the final list .

Andy Flower and Daniel Vettori are the contenders for this position. Gary Kirsten and Trevor Bayliss were also reported to be on the list but they could not make it to the final list. The reason why Andy Flower got the edge is because the former Zimbabwe player has already worked with KL Rahul who could be the captain of the team. Both of them have worked with Punjab Kings.
