Border Gavaskar Trophy : India Squad announced, No Shami

The 18-member Indian squad for the Border Gavaskar Trophy was revealed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India on Friday. Mohammed Shami, a fast bowler, has not rejoined the Indian squad. Since the 2023 ODI World Cup, Shami has not played cricket. Following the World Cup, he had surgery and is currently undergoing rehabilitation.

Shami practiced bowling all the time. There were rumors that Shami would make a comeback to the Border Gavaskar Trophy in such a scenario. KL Rahul has also been able to hold onto his position. On November 22, the series will premiere. India and Australia will play five Test matches over this time.

REASON BEHIND KULDEEP EXCLUSION

Kuldeep Yadav was declared unable to be selection for the Australia tour by the BCCI on Friday. Kuldeep is dealing with a back issue. In such case, he will be sent to the BCCI’s Center of Excellence following the Test series against New Zealand.

The Maiden call was given to Easwaran.

Abhimanyu Easwaran has a spot in the Indian squad because of his steady run-scoring in domestic cricket. He has played a lot of century innings lately. He might be the Indian team’s backup opener.Rohit Sharma, the Indian captain, might not play in the first few games of the series.Easwaran may be seen endorsing Yashasvi Jaiswal in this circumstance.

The Indian lineup for the Test series against Australia does not feature Axar Patel or Shardul Thakur. The team now includes Nitish Reddy. Prasidh Krishna and Nitish Rana will also take a plane to Australia. Khalil Ahmed, Navdeep Saini, and Mukesh Kumar will be backups.
