The International Cricket Council (ICC) has finalized a hybrid model for the 2025 Champions Trophy, ensuring a unique hosting arrangement. Under this model, Pakistan will host a portion of the matches, while India will play its fixtures in Dubai. This innovative approach aims to accommodate all stakeholders and maintain the integrity of global cricket events.
Hybrid Model Confirmed for Champions Trophy
In a significant decision, the ICC has announced that the 2025 Champions Trophy will follow a hybrid hosting model. Pakistan and the UAE will share hosting responsibilities, with India playing its matches in Dubai. This agreement was reached during a meeting led by ICC Chairman Jay Shah and attended by top board members in Dubai.
An ICC source stated, “All parties have agreed in principle to this arrangement. This model ensures fairness and allows cricket to thrive globally.”
Pakistan Secures Equal Hosting Rights Till 2031
As part of the agreement, Pakistan will also benefit from similar arrangements in future ICC events. For instance, during the 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup, Pakistan will play its matches in Sri Lanka. This compromise came after Pakistan withdrew its boycott threats and emphasized the importance of equal hosting rights.
The ICC is still considering the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) compensation demands due to the hybrid hosting model.
