Dickwella asked dominic Sibley if he would open the innings in the series against India, to which he responded emphatically.

England opener Dominic Sibley had been struggling with poor form for some time, but he regained his lost form in the final innings of the final Test of the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka. Sibley played a 56-run not-out innings, leading the faltering England team to victory. During this innings, Sri Lankan wicketkeeper Niroshan Dickwella tried hard to distract him, but he could not succeed in it. Dickwella asked dominic Sibley if he would open the innings in the series against India, to which he responded emphatically.

In the first Test match of the series against Sri Lanka, Sibley was able to play only 4 and 2 runs and after that he was dismissed without opening an account in the first innings of the second Test. When Sibley came out to bat in the second innings and looked in good rhythm, Dickwella asked from behind the wicket, ‘Will you start the innings in the series against India?’ To this Sibley replied, ‘Don’t know. It has not been a very good series for me.

The four-Test series between India and England is to begin from February 5, with the first two matches of the series to be played in Chennai. England have announced the squad for the first two Tests. Dom Sibley has got a place in the team.
