Due to the third wave of Corona continuing in the country. The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 has become a threat to the event. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has completed preparations for the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. The mega auction is scheduled to take place on February 12 and 13 in Bengaluru.
The board has postponed the Ranji Trophy and other domestic tournaments after the Covid-19 cases were reported in the camps of several states. After this, now there is a crisis in IPL 2022 mega auction as well. If reports are to be believed, the venue of the BCCI auction event may also change. Apart from this, the BCCI has a Plan-B ready for organizing the league between Corona.
According to the report of Cricbuzz, there are currently two plans in front of the BCCI regarding the 15th season of IPL. According to Plan-A, the initial plan was for all 10 teams to play in a home-away format, with home games being held at their respective stadiums. At the same time, according to Plan-B, to organize the entire season of IPL 2022 in Mumbai itself. If IPL 2022 is held in Mumbai, then all its matches can be held in three venues (Wankhede, CCI and DY Patil Stadium).
Due to the presence of three stadiums, the option of getting the entire season in Mumbai is with the BCCI. However, BCCI wants to have 10 centers in India to make the tournament more interesting and that will be a priority.
The BCCI had opted for the last two seasons in the UAE due to Kovid. However, this time there is a plan to conduct the entire season of IPL 2022 in India itself. It is also considering changing the start date of the new season from 02 April to 25 March in order to reduce the number of double-headers and day games initially.
