Former Indian team and Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni has emerged as the highest-paid player in the history of IPL. He has earned over Rs 137 crore in the T20 League.
We always assume Virat kohli and Rohit sharma is the highest-paid player in the the history of IPL. But this is the not case , MS DHONI is one of the highest-paid players in the history of cricket throughout his international and IPL career, MS Dhoni remains a top draw.

Dhoni, mostly remained in the top of the BCCI central contract list until he left the captaincy. And is still the first name on the team sheet when it comes to IPL.
After Dhoni lead Team India to a title victory in the inaugural T20 World Cup. Dhoni emerged as the top draw in the IPL 2008 auction and joined Chennai Super Kings for USD 1.5 Million. But back then, this price was something that no one had imagined.

As per the report, MS Dhoni earned same amount of money in IPL 2009 and 2010 that he earned in IPL inagural season. In 2011 ,2012 and 2013 , he nearly earned same amount of money i.e, 8.2cr. In 2014 BCCI introduced first-choice retention fess to 12.5 crore.
Hence, Dhoni earned that amount in IPL 2014 and 2015. At Rising Pune Supergiant as well, he earned the same amount for two years.
Ahead of IPL 2018, the BCCI increased the first-choice retention price to Rs 15 crore. Hence, Dhoni has earned Rs 45 crore in the past three seasons. In total, he has earned over Rs 137 crore. And as stated, this does not include the prize money and other cash rewards.

Rohit Sharma, Mumbai Indian’s captain is second in the line in highest-paid player list of IPL.He earned Rs 3 crore during his time at Deccan Chargers – from 2008 to 2010. From 2011 to 2013, he earned Rs 9.2 crore at Mumbai Indians every year.
Since he was the captain, Rohit became the first-choice retention player in IPL 2014. Since then, he has been matching Dhoni’s amount every year. In total, he has earned over Rs 131 crore.

VIRAT KOHLI
Current captain of all three format of India Cricket Team and Royal Challengers Banglore. The highest-paid player in a single IPL season, Virat Kohli comes next with an income of over Rs 126 crore. The reason behind him sitting at third spot is his price in the first three seasons.
Back in 2008, Kohli was uncapped and was picked by Royal Challengers Bangalore at Rs 12 lakhs. He received the same amount in IPL 2009 and 2010.
The only player that RCB retained in IPL 2011, Kohli earned Rs 8.2 crore from 2011 to 2013. And In 2014, he also joined the top bracket and received Rs 12.5 crore for the next four seasons.
Come IPL 2018, Kohli shattered all past records by drawing a cheque of Rs 17 crore – Rs 2 crore more than the highest retention price. He has been receiving that price since 2018 and has earned Rs 51 crore in past three seasons.
