Since the resumption of international cricket in the covid-19 era, players have been forced to live in a bio-bubble, where their lives are limited to hotels and stadiums. Players cannot meet anyone outside the bio-bubble, which makes it extremely difficult for them to keep themselves fresh and motivated. India’s current captain Virat Kohli also recently said that players are facing mental problems due to this situation.

Sourav Ganguly said, ‘I think we Indians are a bit more tolerant than foreign cricketers. I have played with a lot of cricketers from England, Australia and West Indies. They give up early on mental health. Cricket has been happening in the bio-bubble for the last six-seven months and it is quite difficult. Going from the hotel room to the field, handling the pressure of the game and coming back to the room and going back to the ground again, it is a completely different life. ‘

Ganguly on Australia’s withdrawal from the South Africa tour

Ganguly then cited Australia’s withdrawal from the South Africa tour. Australia canceled a tour of South Africa for a three-match series citing unacceptable levels of health and safety risks to players, support staff and the community.

He said, ‘Look at the Australian team, they were supposed to tour South Africa after the series against India, but they refused. There will always be a threat of covid-19. You have to be positive, you have to prepare yourself mentally. We all have to train ourselves mentally, so that we have a good one together. It depends on the preparation. ‘
