SRI LANKA VS AUSTRALIA 1st TEST HIGHLIGHT| AUSTRALIA WON BY 40 RUNS AND AN INNINGS.
In front of Australia fast bowler Pat Cummins and Joe Richardson, Sri Lanka team crashed on 144 in the first innings on the first day of the first Test at Brisbane on Thursday. Sri Lanka had made 58 runs in the first session losing three wickets, but in front of the Australian invasion, their batsmen went on to dedicate one after another and added 64 runs in the second session and lost five wickets and lost.
In reply, Marcus Harris’s unbeaten 40 runs help Australia lose two wickets and scored just a handful of runs score by the team that is 72 runs. but Night watchman Nathan Lyon (00) with Marcus Harris was on the crease. Bats (15) and Usman Khawaja (11) were the batsmen out of Australia.
The inevitable arrives. Australia win the Test at nine down, with Kumara injured and unable to bat. It was always likely to be too much for Sri Lanka, batting in such unfamiliar conditions against decent pace, and so it proved: bowled out for under 150 in both innings.
Pat Cummins is the star of the show, with ten wickets in a Test match for the first time. “He is a bowler and all-rounder to absolutely savour,” says Alison Mitchell, and my word he is. The first innings he took 4 for 39, the second 6 for 23, his best innings figures by a handful of runs and his best match figures by one wicket.
SRI LANKA INNIGS
Sri Lanka have capitulated within two sessions on day 3. And they started the day being one down but it all went haywire soon. Chandimal and Mendis were sent packing in Cummins’ successive overs. and Silva was the next victim of Australia’s newly appointed co-vice captain. During all this Thirimanne blocked one end up and found no support from the other as they all kept falling to either good balls or bad shot selections. Richardson added two more to his three in the first innings, but it was the Cummins show today. In the end he recorded his career best figures – 10 for 62.
